A dance facility where the focus is on providing adult students with technical dance instruction through fun but disciplined small classes. There seems to be a lack of classes for adult dancers with past training as well as beginner classes that don't dissolve after 3 months. Defalco Dance Training Centre offers a place for adults to receive solid training with other adults in classes geared strictly for the adult body. Sheila Defalco-Stumpf is a Canadian Dance Teachers' Association (C.D.T.A.) Examiner and Life Member – Jazz and Tap and Associate Member – Ballet. Teaching for more than 30 years, her professional training was under the careful eye of her mother in a variety of dance disciplines at the family dance studio. This led to many overall dance awards and scholarships and the opportunity to train with top instructors in North America and Hong Kong. Eventually Sheila became Co-director and later Director of Scarcella School of Dancing and Cabaret School of Dancing here in Ottawa till the family closed the business in 1998. Sheila continued teaching at local dance studios and enhancing not only the technical strengths of her students but their sincere love and appreciation for dance. She continues to develop her personal teaching style, and is a well-respected member of the dance community. With an emphasis on strong technical training, her students have received many top competition awards and dance scholarships; several have gone on to enjoy professional careers teaching and performing in the entertainment industry. Sheila is regularly invited to guest teach and adjudicate dance competitions, provide ongoing and membership training to CDTA teachers and teachers in training, as well as provide ongoing instruction and choreography for dance studios throughout the country. Over the years Sheila has had the opportunity to work with a variety of artists including world-class athletes, local and international recording artists, TV, film and stage actors as well as train students that have gone onto achieve successful careers in dance, entertainment and teaching. This is the true reward - helping bring out the natural talent in all of us! |

| We are all dancers. We use movement to express ourselves - our hungers, pains, angers, joys, confusions, fears - long before we use words, and we understand the meanings of movements long before we understand those of words. - Franklin Stevens |
